A descriptive quantitative study of credit union succession planning. $69 The purpose of the descriptive quantitative study was to identify whether or not, and to what degree, succession planning was occurring in credit unions affiliated with the Filene Research Institute's Research Council and Filene i3 work group. The study involved an online survey, the Credit Union Succession Planning Survey, developed and pilot tested as a part of the study. Forty respondents participated in the study, for an overall response rate of 39.6%. The analysis included frequency counts for responses, determining the mean and standard deviation, and calculating the Spearman correlation coefficients based on the participants' demographics and the survey questions. The survey results found that 70% of the credit union leaders who responded indicated their organizations have succession plans in place. The key positions for these credit unions included the chief executive officer/president, financial executive, and operations executive. The number of these positions included in the succession plan ranged from one to five (M = 3.59, SD = 1.73). The findings showed that both large credit unions, those over {dollar}500 million in assets, and small credit unions, those under {dollar}500 million in assets, lacked succession plans. Study recommendations included: (a) that credit union leaders begin looking at employees skills on a long-term basis, 6-10 years from now; (b) to include positions beyond executives in succession plans by providing retention, recruitment, and potential successors for any key position in the organization; (c) the recommendation to the NCUA, as the regulator of credit unions, is to address the issue of succession planning separately from the CAMEL rating; and (d) further exploration of credit union succession planning with emphasis on a broader population to see if the results of the study's small population match the results from a broader credit union population. |

Interrater reliability of psychomotor skill assessment in athletic training. $69 Assessment in athletic training education is an evolutionary process that is determined by each individual Athletic Training Education Program. The autonomy authorized by national accreditation standards allows academic programs to determine the appropriate assessment practices that facilitate the meeting of student learning outcomes. Even with autonomy, formative and summative techniques are to be employed in both the didactic and clinical arenas of athletic training education programs.;The major objective of athletic training education is to prepare students for entry-level practice in athletic training. The purpose of this study was to assess interrater reliability of athletic training faculty and approved clinical instructors in their rating of athletic training student performance on four psychomotor skills. A total of 115 individuals participated in this study. Thirty two faculty and 83 approved clinical instructors completed the online survey.;The results of this study indicate that the overall reliability was high for the entire population as well as the subgroups analyzed. Even though the overall reliability was high, three specific criteria out of a total of 29 criteria had lower reliability scores. These findings may indicate that there may be a high degree of agreement between academic faculty and approved clinical instructors in the rating of athletic training students in their performance of psychomotor skills. |
